Gomersal played Hall Green Utd on Saturday 7th September at East Bierley.
The game was played on a slippery surface in the pouring down rain making it difficult for both teams.
Gomersal set up in a 3-5-2 again, Hall Green started the game in a 4-3-3 formation.
Hall Green started the game much brighter than Gomersal, first to the ball and looking to set the three forwards away. The Gomersal players struggled to keep possession with misplaced passes and poor touches. Hall Green created a couple of chances in the first half but did not test Cameron Feather too much.
A conservative first half for Gomersal, with some frustrations as the team went in at half time.
The Gomersal management made changes at half time, Liam Bartle made way for Ben Smith and the team matched Hall Green with the same system - 4-3-3.
It was a much brighter start for Gomersal who managed to get the ball to the wide men and slowly started to pin Hall Green into their own half. A few crosses were whipped in and a fair few shots from the edge of the area. There was a scramble in the box 5 minutes in and Hall Green managed to clear off the line.
Gomersal continued to push to break the deadlock, looking the most likely team in the second half to do so. Adam Simpson raced away past the back line, managed to round the keeper but was halted by some excellent defenders running back.
Unable to put the ball in the back of the net the game finished in a 0-0 draw. A point each, which was probably the right result with each side dominating a half each.
Gomersal welcome local rivals Wyke Wanderers on Wednesday night, the game will be played at Liversedge FC at 19:30pm.
